Also in the stranger world of food news, in France, grocers are no longer allowed to throw out usable (but unsellable) food. They have to donate it or feed it to the dogs.

"It's scandalous to see bleach being poured into supermarket dustbins along with edible foods" a former food minister said.

Also in the odd news factoids....

Ole Ingram Grocery is presently using a septic tank. The city council wants people to use the sewer system instead and connect to its system. The grocery store owner says he does not have the money to pay $5,000 to apply to join the system, pay for people to lay pipe to connect his system and get a pump to move it to and fro. The city says some people in the past didn't have to pay fees, but by not connecting to their system he has a $500 fine per day and must connect within 90 days.
